A fitness mobile application that offers a gamified experience for users to earn rewards while improving their fitness.

Design Brief
Fitness club members face a range of expenses beyond their membership fees, including costs for nutrition, supplements, personal training, and fitness apparel. While these investments support a healthy lifestyle, they can become a financial burden over time. There is an opportunity to alleviate these costs by providing users with a way to monetize their fitness journey.
Our brief was to design a platform that enables users to earn rewards and monetize their workout sessions.
The Fitburn mobile application offers a gamified experience to make fitness engaging and rewarding, encouraging users to maintain their healthy habits while offsetting associated costs.

MY DESIGN APPROACH
(01)
My design approach places a strong emphasis on the platform’s core feature of transforming workout sessions into rewarding gamification experiences by combining fitness with financial benefits. I explore the move-to-earn concept and try to find out the users approach to fitness and working out. I try to pinpoint the users motivation to workout and attach a tangible value to it, making their fitness journey more sustainable and enjoyable.
CHALLENGE
(02)
WHO ARE WE SOLVING FOR:
We serve diverse user groups including people wanting to work out, gym enthusiasts, fitness influencers, gym centres, corporates.
WHAT ARE WE SOLVING
Financial Burden of Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle: Regular fitness club members face additional expenses beyond membership fees, such as nutrition, supplements, personal trainers, and fitness outfits.
Lack of Motivation to Sustain Fitness Goals: For many individuals, the lack of immediate, tangible benefits from working out can lead to reduced motivation over time.
Monotony, repetition, and lack of observable progress
RESEARCH
(02)
We interviewed 16 participants. Participants with a decent knowledge of cryptocurrency and Web3.0 and an inclination toward fitness were grouped into the Convenient Sample. Participants with less or no knowledge of cryptocurrency and Web3.0 and an inclination toward fitness were grouped into the Stratified Sample.
We then analyzed the data through card sorting to understand their motivation and behaviour.

Identifying and prioritising user jobs
A comprehensive list of user jobs across personas were framed and features were explored. This laid the foundation of our MVP.
An Example of a Job-To-Be-Done would be

PAINS
Privacy and security of wallet
Worried about the time to earn enough coins for upgrade
Optimized for a new user.
Might have to spend extra money on fitness apps
GAINS
Actively track calorie burn target
Motivated to workout regularly
Looks forward to upgrading customized NFT

COMPETITION ANALYSIS
(05)
Before the design phase, I did a competitive analysis to investigate various KPIs of the competition
NFT Types
Entry Price
Network used
Activities
Device and access requirement
Top features
Customisation
These are the insights that were discovered
The entry price on most of the apps are high.
All the apps work in only one blockchain.
All the app uses only running and walking as an activity to count the calories burned.
Very few apps provide customization to the NFTs

LOW FIDELITY SKETCHES
(08)
We designed the low fidelity of the main user flows of the app to know the screens to see the future flows and organise the ideas that we had for the Fitburn app.

Reflecting on the project outcome
We decided to start with the must-have and should-have features, and while exploring these features I have had a better understanding of the importance of designing user-friendly experiences, ensuring accessibility for non-tech-savvy users.
The project is expected to expand its partners with brands in Dubai and also with major fitness organizations across the globe.
