MY DESIGN APPROACH
(01)
Firstly, I looked into the UX of the app, and prioritized the information architecture and making the user flows comprehensible. Thereafter, I also interviewed football coach as part of the primary research to prioritise the features that can be added to the app for more efficient use. Finally, changes were made in the UI design of the app.

Undestanding the User
I spoke with the head coach of Bengaluru FC youth wing. He is also involved with the senior wing.
“During the training sessions it's mostly visual observations only, and then instant verbal feedbacks are given.”
Existing tools used

All the analysis of the team performance and the opponent's are done anthrough the video uploaded and automatically received.
Personal profiles of all the players
How do you keep track of player’s performance?
ANALYSTS
The matches are recorded from multiple angles by using a number of cameras.
The club has analysts who then go through the videos and then share the important ones with the coaches.
The videos are cut to a few seconds or to a few minutes for the coaches to look at.
The coach then gives feedbacks, which are mostly communicated verbally to the players with the aid of the videos received from the analysts.
EMPATHY MAPPING

Visual observations by the coaches is the first step to track progress
Feedbacks are mostly given to the players verbally
The players mostly prefer in-person verbal feedbacks.
Video analysis of matches are done
Performance and tracking and analysis tools are already being used by coaches of football clubs.
Information are passed on through mails, whatsapp texts, calls
Frustrated about having to write down feedbacks for each and every player

Analysis of the existing Information Architecture
Existing information architecture: The information architecture below shows the existing IA that has a lot of UX problem and had to be changed for a smooter user flow. The problems have been identified and detailed.
Home
There is no quick way to navigate to the club profile details
Calendar
Schedules can be created
However, the schedule cannot be shared with the players and the coaching staff.
Search
There are two search bars on the home page.
The search bar from the navigation menu had to be removed.
Squad
There is no section to view the club profile details
You can create different groups to list the people invovlved with the club
This section only lists the name of the players.
No evident and correct userflow to access the player profile details
Same problem with the other people of the club catagorised into different groups.
Notes
Notes can be created and compartmentalised into different groups. However, no proper userflow to view the notes created.
The notes also cannot be assigned to different players/staff/schedule for which they are made.
No sharing option

HOME
Job to be done 1
I want to quickly get an overview of the club, schedule and any upcoming match.
What was the UX problem?
A calendar card on the homepage is not necessary because a user can easily access calendar/schedule from the nav menu.
The in-progress of the schedule on the homepage also does not show proper and complete information.
There are two search options. One on the homepage at the top and the other on the navigation menu.
The performance stats card also does not give proper information. The IA and the user flow of the performance stats was confusing.
What I changed
I have removed the calendar form the homepage and incorporated it under schedule
I have made cards of the schedule that can be scrolled vertically for quick access. User can quickly see their schedule and their progress. The cards can also be expanded to see the full content.
The search option from the navigation menu bar has been eliminated.
'Match' has been added to the navigation bar for easy access.

SCHEDULE
Job to be done 2
I want to prepare my schedule for the next day
What was the UX problem?
The calendar for scheduling was placed under notes. this created a problem in the IA
The timeline does not show the 'start and end' of the schedule properly.
To read the full schedule written, a user has to to go notes from the calendar increasing the click to action ratio.
What I changed
A separate menu for Schedule to streamline the IA and make a distinction between 'Notes' and 'Schedule'
The timeline distinctly showing the 'start and end' of the schedule. I have also put only the 'start and end' time in the timeline of the schedule so as to prevent unnecessay scrolling.
A user can easily expand the contents of the card and read the full schedule.
Different colors can be assigned to different schedules.
BEFORE
AFTER
Sharing
The coach can easily share the schedule for the next day with the players and staff.
SQUAD
Job to be done 3
I want to vie player performance stats and share it
What was the UX problem?
No user flow to access Club details
No dedicated userflow in the IA to access player details.
Excessive vertical scrolling to see the player details.
Information about previous matches and the list of players on the same page creates a confusion about the previous match and the players involved in the match
No way to share player details and performance.
What I changed
A dedicated user flow in the IA to access the club details easily.
The details of the players can be accessed easily without any confusing elements introduced in the same page.
The information about preveious matches have been put under the 'Match' navigation bar.
To avoid excessive scrolling to see the player details, the players have been catagoried under different tabs for quick access.
The user can also share the details of the players and their performance quickly and easily.

AFTER
NOTES
Job to be done 4
I want to notes and feedbacks for players and assign it to individual players.
What was the UX problem?
Notes are saved in calendar.
No dedicated userflow in the IA to access note details.
Extra steps to view the notes.
Notes cannot be assigned to player profile for whom they are made.
The process is long and inconvenient.
What I changed
A dedicated user flow in the IA to access the make, access and edit notes easily.
The details of the notes can be viewd without extra click.
Notes can be saved to schedule or assigned to individual players.
Feature: to attach files and documents; upload videos, images and voice recordings; save as pdf, on file; share with players , making it convenient for users.

MATCH
Job to be done
I want to add details of new upcoming match and share it with the team.
What was the UX problem?
No dedicated userflow in the IA to access match details.
All the information about recent matches are clubbed under Squad in the navigation bar.
No userflow to input details of upcoming new matches.
Confusing userflow to access match details.
What I changed
A dedicated and separate IA for all the match details in the navigation bar.
Users can view details about upcoming and older matches under this IA.
Users can also add information about upcoming new matches.
All the information can be easily saved as pdf and also shared with others.
